Taining in Kalimpong - West Bangal

Darsanalaya Society conducted a three day Sheethali Chikithsa training in Kalimpong in West Bangal from 22nd to 24th September 2010. The programme was arranged by the Congregation of St. Joseph of Cluny. There were around 53 participants for the training. “There are so many hill stations were the health facilities are not reached and the training in simple herbs will help the poor in this area”, said Sr. Anna Lepcha, the Provincial.

A team was formed for the preparation of the medicines for all the hill stations around the Darjeeling District. The participants or the training were the health workers from different hill station of Darjeeling District of West Bengal

Dr. Aji Sebastian the Director of Darsanalaya was invited to Belize by Belize Agricultural Health Authority. He visited the country from 17th to 29th of October. He had meetings with Hon. Rene Montero, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Wilfred Elrington, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, H. E. Mr. Alexis Rosado CEO and the Ambassador, Mr. Mike Thomas, Managing Director BAHA.


The Main aghenda of the meeting was to discuss about the systematic promotion of Mayan Medicines, Explore the economic viability of herbal Medicines, To promote good health and expand the out reach of health care and to improve the quality of teaching of health workers.

Darsanalaya Foundation in Philippines made its new step in the promotion of natural medicines and its training in the country. The meeting between Wellness Institute International and the Foundation were successful. Each shares the same principle with their mission and vision. There were different sessions of discussions and debates Foundation was successful to convince them about the power of healing in Sheethali Chikithsa. Both the parties agreed each other for the promotion of Sheethali Chikithsa for the benefits of Humanity.
Wellness Institute International is a primary health and wellness research and teaching centre registered in California - USA, Manila – Philippines and in Lourdes – France. Its main thrust is prevention and control of disease, maintenance of optimal health and promotion of the individual inherent self-healing process which natural medicine refers to as the “vis medicatrix nature,” the healing power of nature.
Darsanalaya was doing its mission with the same concept in India for last six years. As the part of collaborating together in the future, the Director and the team of Institute will visit India from 1st to 15th January 2011 to study about the activities and research of Darsanalaya.

SRUTI Arts (Social Revolution & Unification Through Indian Arts) selected to honour Fr. Aji Sebastian with ‘World Malayalee Excellency Award 2010’ for his humanitarian activities and innovative herbal treatment  ‘Sheethali Chikithsa’ to the poor villagers of rural India and other Asian countries. Grand Award function was at National Bala Bhavan auditorium, Delhi on 11 April 2010 jointly organized by SRUTI Arts and Delhi Panchavadya Trust with mega cultural show of artistic performances.

World Malayalee Excellency Award 2010 is awarded  to Dr. Aji Sebastian by Sh. Sreenivasan the famous Actor, Director, Script writer

The awards honoured to five performing artists of Malayalam Cinema and  nine personalities from various social sectors.  Mr. K N Jayarj Presided over the function and Honorable Member of Parliament M.B Rajesh inaugurated the event. The renowned film artist Mr. Srinivasan was the Chief Gust of the function.

Mr. Srinivasan, Mr. Ginnus Pakkru, Ms. Jyothirmayi, Ms. Archana Kavi and Ms. Rasna were the award winners from the Malayalam Cinema. The nine honored from different walks of life for their excellent services were Dr. Aji Sebastian, Mr. Muhammad Nizhad, Mr. T.  K. Mathew, Mr. Babu Panikkar, Mr. Illiyas Kuliyagal, Mr. Shiva Prasad, Mr. Albert Alex, Mr. P. K. S. Madhavan, and Master Abhishek. There was a big cultural agape followed the award function enriched with verities of art performance from different cultures of the country.

Fr. Aji Sebastian who introduced the system of Sheethali Chikithsa and the founder of Darsanalaya Institutions were appreciated by Rotary International. The certificate of appreciation is awarded to Dr. Aji Sebastian on 28th march 2010 by the Rotary International District 3010 Governor Rtn. Ashish Ghosh in a simple and small function at 7 p.m. in Himachal Bhawan, New Delhi.
Rotary Club of Delhi East End President Gurpreet Singh presided over the function and he appreciated the humanitarian endeavours of Dr. Aji Sebastian for the past many years. His services in the field of health especially in the rural areas of India and in other Asian countries through his simple system of treatment called Sheethali Chikithsa were appreciated.

The certificate of appreciation is awarded  to Dr. Aji Sebastian by District Governor Rtn. Ashish Ghosh at the function held at Himachal Bhawan, New Delhi

The certificate states, “... in recognitiaon of his contribution for promoting international peace and understanding through his pioneer efforts in finding cure to diseases through unique system called Sheethali Chikithsa. As founder Director of Darsanalaya Institution, Fr Aji reached out to poor people in the rural areas in India and beyond borders offering effective treatment using herbal combinations. Rotary appreciates the humanitarian services rendered by Dr Aji...”

Darsanalaya expressed its readiness to collaborate with Rotary International to promote its mission on this occasion. The Darsanalaya Foundation which is inaugurated in Philippines last month is with this wider concept to reach out maximum people all over the Asia and to all over the world. The Foundation is ready to collaborate with any like minded groups like Rotary International for the successful mission, said Dr. Aji Sebastian.

The launch of Darsanalaya in Philippines was held at Pasig Cathedral Manila, Philippines. Acharya Isaibaba (Dr. Aji Sebastian CMI), the Director of Darsanalaya and the founder of ‘Sheethali Chikithsa’ was invited to Philippines by Diocese of Pasing to attend the Inaugural Function and following one week (22- 27 Feb. 2010), Seminar on Herbal Medicine and Sheethali Chikithsa

Inaugural function convened at the premises of Immaculate Conception Cathedral and the CMI ‘s in Philippines were present on the occasion. The programme started with the holy Eucharist led by Fr. Aju Varghese CMI, the chaplain of ‘The Medical City’.

Rev. Fr. Roy M Rosales STL, The Chancellor, Diocese of Pasig proclaim the launch of Darsanalaya Foundation, Philippines. Ms. Maribel Andaya Eusebio, The First Lady of the City was present for the inaugural session. The aim of the Foundation is to reach out the simple medicines of ‘Sheethali Chikithsa’ system to the needy / poor people in the provinces of Philippines. ‘The Wellness Philippines’ and the ‘Tree Police’ of the country will associate with Darsanalaya Foundation for the successes of the mission.

It is the beginning of, a lifelong quest of opening wellness and health for the poor needy people in this country. Ms. Maria Victoria Geronilla with her daughter Ms. Aileen Snow Geronilla and their family have taken the initiative for the formation of Darsanalaya Foundation in Philippines. The Geronilla family is already in the field of Wellness for long years. The First Lady wished that “Let it be, a historical moment for future mission of sharing the herbal knowledge between two countries and for the service to the people of Philippines”. It could be a first step of Darsanalaya to reach out health to every one in Asia to fulfill the dream mission, “Health for All”.

Three days National Summit - 23-25 November 2009
A three days summit of Bharatha Parambarya Vaidya Sangam (BPVS) (National Society of Traditional Doctors) held in the NCR (Faridabad and Delhi). Summit was organized by Darsanalaya Society, which is fully involved in the promotion of herbs and traditional medicines. Honorable Member of Parliament Mr. P T Thomas has consented patronage of the Sangam movement. The advisory body to this Summit consists of Dr. Paul Joseph IES (Retd.) Principal Advisor, Mr. Alias from Kerala House, Mr. Sebastian Daniel a Social Activist.

The opening ceremony of the summit was at Darsanalaya Ashram, Chandpur Village Faridabad. Swami Krishnan the Secretary of the Sangam chaired the summit. There were around 34 representations from different states of the country. There were discussions on Traditional Health System, Potential of Traditional System, and Regional Analysis, Issues on Traditional System, Experience Sharing, Future of Traditional system, and Importance of National Coordination of Traditional Vaidyas. Dr. Aji Sebastian the Gen. Secretary of National Coordination Committee presented the paper on the Existential crisis and the importance in the prevailing health scenario. The summit finalized the following resolutions.

1. The Sangam will submit a memorandum to apprise the issues to the knowledge of Government so that a new Policy may be adopted or existing Policy may be modified to accept, encourage and develop the potential of Traditional Medicine Practitioners;
2. Acknowledge traditional medicine as part of primary health care to increase access to medical care and to preserve knowledge and resources; and ensure patient safety by upgrading the skills and knowledge of traditional medicine providers.
3. It is proposed that Government may ensure the quality, effectiveness and safety of the products and practices of traditional medicine in public interest;
4. The Sangam decided to request the Government to formulate an expert’s forum to analyze the quality service of the traditional vaidyas to the main stream of health service.
5. Request the Government to generate a data base of the talent of traditional vaidyas of the country, so that diminishing wisdom of the indigenous health practitioners must be preserved for the future generations. The Sangam must get responsibility and involvement to any such forum.
6. Government may kindly organize/support training program for the benefit of traditional healers, barefoot doctors, within their level of understanding, and with the use of their resources.

The summit concluded with the press meeting at Kerala House, New Delhi at 6.30 pm. Honorable Members of parliament Mr. P. T Thomas, K.P Dhanapalan and Anto Antony also participated; and agreed to highlight the issues in the parliament.

Acharya Isai Baba in Manila 19-25 of October 2009, honoring an invitation from the Ateneo University to attend a seminar at the East Asian Pastoral Institute, to an international group of scholars and missionaries. He introduced to them the Seethali Chikithsa, a unique system of treatment that he has developed, tested and now is being acknowledged by the World.
