Darsanalaya Ashram located in a beautiful and innocent village area. This village called Chandpur, some 25 KM away form Faridabad city of Haryana state in India. There are around 27 villages around this ashram. The population is divided into number of casts. The main classes of people in this area are Jats, Rajputs, Brahmans, Ahirs, Banias, Harijans, Gujars. Almost all are belong to agricultural communities. There are also categories like village artisans, craftsmen and certain other menials who helped in the agricultural operations including the village blacksmith, the carpenter, the oil man, the barber, the washer man, the village potter and some others.

The villages now have improved in external appearance; the essence of village life remains the same. The life of the villager’s remains rooted in their age old customs and traditions. The villagers have retained their essential frame work of rites and rituals, fairs and festivals, taboos and superstitions. The people remain deeply attached to the tribe, caste or sub caste to which they belong. Their social relations, marriages, eating, drinking, and other dealings are still endogamous. The impact of democracy, secularism or socialism is not obvious. The tolerance, catholicity, simplicity and spontaneity has made rural life gay and enjoyable.

Darsanalaya Ashram has started with same spirit of Jesus Christ and Blessed Chavara. It is a place of silence and solitude. The Ashram vicinity is powered with spiritual vibrations. This is an Ashram where people can come form all walks of life irrespective of cast and creed. It is an Indian Christian Ashram for the search and social reformation in collaboration with other religions and religious sects.

Since the Ashram is open to all, the people often come with family or individually to share their joy and sorrows, to pray together and to participate in the activities of the Ashram. Ashram activities start at 4.30 am. Ashram has developed an idea of 'Garbhagraha Anubhava' meditation (Womb Experience). Fr. Aji Sebastian the visionary and the Aacharya (Director) of the Ashram was in silence for a year in Sachidananda Ashram, at Narsingpur, M.P state of India, for the experiment of 'Garbhagraha Anubhava'.

The people who visit the ashram enjoy the simple vegitarian food and fresh air with Yoga and meditation in the atmosphere of silence. Aim of Darsanalaya Ashram is to develop a center for true seekers.

In this busy world people are in stress and confusion and they always run here and there for solace. When human being was in the womb of its mother, it was alone in its solitude. If you want the life, you have to go through this womb experience. All the creatures in this universe need a time for unknown existence to be known. In this busy world people forget the cause of their life, i.e. Solitude and silence. They forget their existence. The answer to our unsolved problems and questions will be answered if we listen to the voice that speaks from within us. “The Kingdom of God is within you”, “You are the Temple of God”. Darsanalaya Ashram is a place to repose in the busy schedule of this world. Garbhagraha Anubhava is going back to the womb, the most protected and holy of holies of a human being.

Ashram inmates are not in a separate world of theirs. They observe and study the problems and issues of the world. The problems related to children, women, rich and poor, healthy and weak, family and society are our issues too. Each individual in the community is responsible for the things that happen in the society. When one among the society is infected the whole is infected. We promote the Eco-friendly life style and raise voice against the social evils like child labor, HIV/AIDS discrimination and its stigma, sex imbalance, abortion, women feticide, poverty, sexual abuse and trying to promote value based education in rural and urban areas, Religious harmony, Ecumenical fellowship, Creating Equality, Solidarity and Friendship Between the Hearts.

Ashram has visualized different methods to reach the goal. Ashram has its own Art Gallery and its aim is to create social awareness through art and media. The year 2006 has taken as the year of social awareness on HIV/AIDS, its awareness, stigma and discrimination. We conduct exhibitions, painting competitions, seminars, street plays, Mobile exhibitions, public gatherings, public rallies, producing documentaries etc. to remove the Sigma and discrimination related to this epidemic.

Ashram is also a place of research in art and media and experimenting so many ancient art materials in contemporary art. Darsanalaya Ashram coordinating the local artist and artisans to make them to the main streams of the society.

Darsanalaya Ashram and its activities originate from the deeper levels of meditation in solitude and silence. The Divine energy that we receive from the meditation moves to the social activities.

The ashram is not a dream of an individual, but it has become a dream of many. So many families and individuals from far and near are the members of Darsanalaya family. The Support and guidance from all are invited always. Many hands are behind the Darsanalaya Ashrams’ humanitarian and developmental activities, and the vision of the ashram is getting fulfilled, ‘with the people for goodness’.
